Calculate the exact volume of your pond in litres to determine the right pump, filter, and treatment products.

Recommended Pump Flow Rates (LPH)
Koi Ponds (High Waste)
0 LPH
1x - 2x per hour Koi produce significant waste. High turnover removes solids and maintains oxygen. For heavy stocking, aim for 1.5x - 2x.
Goldfish Ponds (Moderate Waste)
0 LPH
0.5x - 1x per hour Goldfish need regular filtration for clear water, especially without plants present.
No Fish/Plants (Ornamental)
0 LPH
0.5x - 1x per hour Without organic waste, goal is preventing stagnation and algae growth.

Pro Tip
It is always better to slightly "over-filter" (1.5x) and have the ability to turn down the flow with a valve than to under-filter and have cloudy, unhealthy water.
Important Considerations
Filter Capacity: Ensure your pump capacity does not exceed the maximum flow rate allowed by your filter.
Head Height: The pump's flow rate drops the higher it has to push water.
Minimum Flow: 0.5x per hour is the absolute minimum to prevent algae.
Quick Reference
1 cubic meter = 1,000 litres
Add 10-15% extra for streams, waterfalls & filters
For irregular shapes, calculate as oval/rectangle and add 10%
Measure depth at multiple points and use the average

OASE EPDM 0.8mm — 6m Wide Cut to size, sold per linear metre
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Order: 0 linear metres 6m wide x your required length — no joins, single piece
Superior flexibility — conforms perfectly to any pond shape
A single-piece liner with no joins is always preferable. EPDM is highly flexible and ideal for ponds of all shapes. Where joins are unavoidable, overlap by at least 300mm using proper liner joining tape, away from corners.
Important Considerations
Use maximum depth: Always measure the deepest point of your pond, not the average.
Overlap included: Calculations include 0.5m (50cm) overlap on all sides for securing the liner edge.
Irregular shapes: Use the longest length, widest width, and deepest depth of your pond.
Quick Reference
Liner Length = Pond Length + (2 x Depth) + 1m
Liner Width = Pond Width + (2 x Depth) + 1m
Results are rounded up to the nearest 0.5m
For circular ponds, treat the diameter as both length and width
